FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is your foam made from?

All polyurethane foam blanks are made by mixing two liquids, a polyol and an isocyanate. Our polyol is based on >80% recycling polyols that we source from the packaging industry (post-industrial). The rest consists of virgin polyol, additives and water. The Isocyanate we are using is MDI-based isocyanate (currently virgin). With this formulation, we can guarantee that at least ⅓ of the blanks you are using is not based on virgin fossil fuels anymore. These raw materials not only reduce the environmental impact but also maximize the performance creating a stronger and more durable board that keeps it’s flex throughout the life cycle. At the end of it’s life, we use a chemical process to liquify the foam again and turn it into the polyol needed to make new blanks!
(We are working hard on our new formulation replacing the current isocyanate with a recycled isocyanate as well which will significantly increase the recycled content in the overall blank to more than ⅔.)

The wooden component is an additive, and also an upcycled component, responsible for the small cell size, the very lively flex pattern and an elevated resistance against pressure dings.

Can you recycle all kinds of PU foam?

Unfortunately, the polyurethane from standard white blanks cannot be recycled. We can only take responsibility for the material we’ve developed ourselves. Our foam is especially developed to be recyclable again. Therefore, we can only take back and recycle our own foam.

The foam cannot be mixed with other materials and needs to be returned to us, to ensure the proper recycling. If you have some polyola foam leftovers, we mare more than happy to take it back. Get in touch with us.

Can I use epoxy / polyester as resin?

Yes, you can work with both resins.

Do I have to adjust my shaping process, when working with polyola?

Due to their chemistry they can be a bit more resistant while being shaped. But, generally in the way your work, polyola blanks are comparable to other polyurethane blanks on the market – that is, same tooling, same process. We try to make it as easy as possible for everyone.
