MEO Unwanted Shapes – Dare to Test 2023

4 SHAPERS – 4 SURFBOARD MODELS – 2 BOARDS EACH

In this year’s edition of the MEO – Unwanted Shapes “Dare to Test” two of the best surfers in the world did a blind test, to check if they could tell the difference between classic construction and eco construction.

4 shapers created each 2 boards: one in conventional material and the other in eco material. Can they identify the difference between the two?

The Unwanted Shapes is a MEO project, in partnership with the Tourism of Portugal and the WSL, which promotes the production of high performance surfboards with sustainable materials.

Polyola eco foam blanks were featured in a Chilli “Shortie” (5’11” x 18 7/8” x 2 1/2” 29.00L – ROUND) and in a Timmy Patterson “Synthetic 84” (5’9” x 19 1/2” x 2 3/8” – 30.08L – SQUASH).

We don’t want to spoiler too much, but one thing can be said: we are super happy about the results ;)

All boards were surfed with a recycled thruster fin-set from SIEVE fins. Check them out here.
